Jerrod Maddox focuses his practice on banking, bankruptcy litigation, commercial litigation, with a focus on creditors’ rights. He has represented bank and private equity clients in Chapter 11, 7 and 13 proceedings, and other creditor clients in state and federal courts over the past five years, prior to joining Dunn Law.

“Dunn Law is pleased to welcome Jerrod to the team,” says Michael Dunn. “In addition to his substantive experience and valuable insight, Jerrod is a pleasure to work with and a well-respected member of our legal community.”

Jerrod attended Auburn University Montgomery and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama. Following law school, he completed a 2-year clerkship with the Hon. William R. Sawyer, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Alabama. In the years prior to joining Dunn Law, Jerrod worked as an attorney at Jones Walker LLP.

He recently served as pro bono counsel in state court criminal resentencing under the application of Graham v. Florida, 560 U.S. 48 (2010), where the defendant was previously sentenced to life without parole for offenses committed while he was a minor. Through the pro bono representation, the defendant’s sentence was reduced to 35 years in compliance with Graham and the 8th Amendment.

Jerrod is admitted to the Florida Bar (2015) and the Alabama Bar (2012). He has practiced in state and federal courts in the Southern District of Florida and in Alabama. He is eligible to practice before the U.S. District Courts in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama as well as the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts in these districts in Florida and Alabama. He is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida.

And so there is no confusion, despite getting a law degree from Alabama, Jerrod was raised and remains a lifelong Auburn fan.
